My kids like birds a lot. Their interest in birds probably started early on when they first watched the Sesame Street shows featuring the yellow Big Bird. Later when they were at preschool and kindergarten age, they had opportunities to see different kinds of birds through books, on TV and at the zoo. They specifically like macaw because of its colorful feathers.

To further my kids’ interest, I made and collected a lot bird coloring pictures, from the cute Sesame Street Big Bird, to the strong Bald Eagle, from different kinds of feeder bird to the blue macaw in the movie Rio. Hope your kids like these coloring pages, too!

One post took me to the others… Starting with the Rio coloring pages, then some bird coloring pages, and now some Sesame Street Big Bird coloring pages. I prefer giving my kids stuff that relates to what they’ve just seen or done to reinforce their learning while they still have interest in the subject matter. It’s natural if the kids prefer coloring Big Bird with yellow, but it may be useful to encourage them to challenge and change the rule and give Big Bird a new outfit in red or purple or whatever color they see fit. Let them have fun! So, here’s Big Bird to you!

Eagle Coloring Pages

My family lives in a small city in Northern California. Several months ago, a pair of Bald Eagles have taken up residence in a redwood tree right by an active elementary school in my city and have successfully raised their chicks despite their nest’s location above busy city neighborhoods. This was all over the news, from the city website, to local TV stations, including ABC, NBC etc.

Back then I started a post about coloring pages of Bald Eagles for my kids. This is more like a revised version with more Eagle coloring images, including fun cartoonish eagle cliparts.

Since the last post was about Rio (The movie) coloring pages, and Big Bird (Sesame Street) coloring pages I guess it makes sense to post some more coloring sheets about birds. I took the opportunity that my daughter loved the movie Rio and taught her some more about different kinds of birds; and more importantly, just let her have fun with it.

I’ve added many more feeder bird coloring pages including specific feeder bird names like Blue Jay, Ruby Throated Hummingbird, Mourning Dove, or Red Breasted Nuthatch, etc. You can also show your kids how certain feeder bird look like by going to the Feeder Bird Watch website. Even myself I’ve learnt a lot from the website.

Rio (The Movie) Coloring Pages

I was in the process of preparing some handwriting practice worksheets and my daughter happened to watch the Rio animated movie again and asked me to print her some Rio coloring pages. She liked all the characters in that movie, so here they are. Hopefully, your kids love those, too. By the way, although Blue (the bird) is really blue in the move, encourage your kids to try giving it different colors and make it colorful. Using only blue and gray for the bird is pretty challenging. You can also ask the kids to colors different versions, one blue and one colorful.
