Archive: Free coloring pages for kids

More often before giving my kids anything to play and learn with, I’d do a lot of research beforehand, to make sure that the materials and the activities involved are useful for them and aiming at building up new skills and knowledge or reinforcing old ones in long terms. Coloring pages were among the very first things I gave my kids.

The reason coloring is important, at least to me, because it really encompasses the idea of playing and learning, the idea that this whole website was built upon. Below you’ll find hundreds, if not thousands of free coloring pictures in a variety of categories, from cartoon and movie characters to animals and each letter in the alphabets etc.

Eagle Coloring Pages

Eagle coloring image

My family lives in a small city in Northern California. Several months ago, a pair of Bald Eagles have taken up residence in a redwood tree right by an active elementary school in my city and have successfully raised their chicks despite their nest’s location above busy city neighborhoods. This was all over the news, from the city website, to local TV stations, including ABC, NBC etc.

Back then I started a post about coloring pages of Bald Eagles for my kids. This is more like a revised version with more Eagle coloring images, including fun cartoonish eagle cliparts.

Monsters Inc Coloring Pages

Monsters Inc movie coloring sheet

Halloween was yesterday. While adults might have been watching really scary monster movies during this time, I let my kids watch the movie Monsters Inc. again and its sequel Monsters University. These movies are not really for Halloween, but because they are about Monsters (very cute ones, most of them more exactly), so I guess it’s good for the occasion. Monsters Inc is a pretty old movie – released in 2001, and its sequel Monsters Inc 2 or Monsters University was released more recently in 2013. The movies, however, are still good every time we watch them.

Despicable Me & Minions Coloring Pages

Minions Coloring page

My girls like the Despicable Me/Minions movies. Today, the kids happen to see watch the movie again on TV, so I just prepared some Minion coloring sheets for the little ones. Minions are cute, funny and original. To tell the truth, I couldn’t really tell them apart because they all look pretty much alike. Minion Stuart is the one-eyed short Minion with combed hair, but Carl is one-eyed, too. Minion Bob is short, plump, bald. Minion Kevin is taller but looks really like Minion Tim with two eyes and sprout hair etc. Enough said, here are some very cute minions coloring pages for your little ones. Your kids can use yellow and blue to color minions as seen in the movie, but you can also let them to use different colors as we want to encourage their imagination.

Learning Letter A in the Alphabet

Letter A Coloring page

I’ve had various posts about learning the alphabet from coloring activities to tracing and handwriting practice sheets. Through observation and playing with my kids, I’ve come to realize that kids can get excited about new things quickly (learning the Alphabet in this case), but that excitement and the initial level of engagement can’t last long unless we can keep introducing some sort of new element to the materials every time. That’s why I’m introducing a series of coloring and handwriting practices for each letter in the alphabet in addition to the existing materials found in this subject, starting with letter A, of course!
