Since the last post was about Rio (The movie) coloring pages, and Big Bird (Sesame Street) coloring pages I guess it makes sense to post some more coloring sheets about birds. I took the opportunity that my daughter loved the movie Rio and taught her some more about different kinds of birds; and more importantly, just let her have fun with it.
I’ve added many more feeder bird coloring pages including specific feeder bird names like Blue Jay, Ruby Throated Hummingbird, Mourning Dove, or Red Breasted Nuthatch, etc. You can also show your kids how certain feeder bird look like by going to the Feeder Bird Watch website. Even myself I’ve learnt a lot from the website.

Some facts about birds (according to Science Kids)
- Birds have feathers, wings, lay eggs, and they are warm blooded
- There are about 10,000 different species of birds
- Birds have hollow bones that make their bodies lighter and help them fly
- The largest bird is ostrich, which has the fastest maximum running speed (97 kph or 61 mph).
- The most common species of bird is chicken
- Hummingbirds can fly backwards
- The smallest living bird in the world is the bee hummingbird. It’s only 5 cm (2 in) long
- Around 20% of bird species migrate long distances every year
- Homing pigeons can find their way home from long distances away and have been used for thousands of years to carry messages
