The Lion King Coloring Pages

I’ve just taken the kids to see the Lion King (2019 film) in the theater. It is a photorealistic computer animated remake of Disney’s traditionally animated 1994 film. Right after that, we watched the Lion King I (the original animation) and the Lion King II – Simba’s Pride at home again, and we had a really great movie day and night! While technology has made the 2019 release feel so real, watching the original animation did have something special, that’s hard to describe.

The kids still have a couple days left until their new school year starts, so I’ve made them some Lion King characters coloring pages, including images of Mufasa, Sarabi, Simba, Nala, Pumbaa, Timon, Rafiki and more. My kids like them and hope yours do, too.

Main Characters in the Lion King movie

Simba
Simba is a cheerful and feisty lion cub, the son of Mufasa and Sarabi, Scar’s nephew, Nala’s mate. With the loss of his dad, Mufasa, his adventures take a new path, where he makes great new friends and later fight bravely for what’s his.
Nala
Nala is Simba’s childhood friend. The two lost each other after Mufasa died. Later, after returning to Pride Rock, she helps Simba defeat Scar and take his rightful place as King of Pride Rock.
Mufasa
Mufasa is Simba’s father, Scar’s older brother and Sarabi’s mate. As ready to play as he is to instruct, Mufasa guides young Simba with a voice as golden as his magnificent mane.
Rafiki
The old baboon that travels his own road, sings his own songs and knows what he knows. He lives in a baobab tree in the Pride Lands and performs shamanistic services for the lions of Pride Rock.
Timon
Timon is a very active and full-of-energy meerkat with a motor mouth is the self-proclaimed “brains of the outfit.”
Pumbaa
This well-padded warthog is a bit clumsy but more than makes up for his slow thought processes with empathy and intuition.
Zazu
Mufasa’s most trusted advisor. Zazu becomes a prisoner of Scar before Pumbaa breaks the bone cage releasing him when Simba returns to the Pride Lands. He eventually acts as a scout and advises Simba on royal protocol.
Scar
Scar is Mufasa’s younger brother. After plotting to kill Mufasa and exiling Simba, he becomes King of the Pride Lands, but years later he was overthrown by Simba and attacked by the hyenas.
The Hyenas
These three wisecracking goons are always on the lookout for their next meal or an innocent victim to taunt.
